Blood Assurances calls for donations during the “100 Deadliest Days of Summer”
Brooke Katz with Blood Assurance joins News 12’s Amelia Greer to remind the community to donate blood during a critical time this summer.
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – Blood Assurance needs donations all year, but the “100 Deadliest Days of Summer” calls for even more trauma care and a higher need for donors.
To encourage donations, Blood Assurance is hosting “Battle of the Badges” with Catoosa County Sheriff’s Office and Walker County Sheriff’s Office will have a friendly blood donating competition. People in their respective county can donate to show support for their county sheriff’s office. Winner gets bragging rights along with saving lives.
Saturday is “World Blood Donor Day” and June 19 is “World Sickle Cell Day” and to bring awareness, Blood Assurance is offering incentives to existing and new donors. All donors will receive a $20 e-gift card and O-negative and AB-plasma donors will receive a $25 gift card.
Anyone over the age of 17, weigh over 110 pounds, and be in good health can donate. It takes roughly 45 minutes to donate blood. To schedule an appointment, visit www.bloodassurance.org/schedule, call 800-962-0628, or text BAGIVE to 999777. Walks-ins are also accepted.
