Howard High School Alumni Celebrate 160 Years of Legacy and Pride
Chattanooga, TN (WDEF) Howard High School alumni gathered this weekend to celebrate a major milestone — 160 years of history, impact, and enduring Tiger pride.
The celebration took the form of a lively outdoor cookout, where graduates from across the decades came together to honor their alma mater. The atmosphere was festive, filled with music, laughter, and powerful memories. Tents lined the event grounds, each one representing a different graduating class. Under each tent were banners, photos, and memorabilia that told the story of generations of students who once walked the halls of Howard.
Dr. Le Andrea Ware, Executive Principal of Howard High and a proud graduate from the class of 1990, spoke about the significance of the gathering.
“When you think about 160 years of excellence right here in the city of Chattanooga — Howard High stomping grounds — I’m a proud graduate of 1990,” Ware said. “Just to have our young graduates see the older, more seasoned generation and all we have accomplished and will continue to do that will positively impact this city — that’s what today is about.”
The event served not just as a reunion but as a bridge between generations — a living reminder of the school’s legacy of excellence, leadership, and community impact.
Alumni say they are committed to keeping the Howard tradition alive and passing it on to future Tigers. Events like this, they say, ensure the school’s story continues to thrive for another 160 years.
