GoFundMe launched after Soddy Daisy family loses everything
SODDY DAISY, Tenn. (WDEF) — A late-night house fire in Soddy Daisy has left a family of four displaced after losing everything in the blaze.
A heartbreaking house fire early Sunday morning left a Soddy Daisy family of four with nothing.
Around 12:40 a.m., fire crews were dispatched to a home on Nale Road.
When they arrived, they found the house already engulfed in flames.
Firefighters confirmed all four family members made it out safely.
However, everything else was lost—including the family’s two cats, who sadly died in the fire.
The cause of the fire has not been officially confirmed, but it’s believed faulty wiring may be to blame.
Damage to the home is extensive.
In the aftermath, the community is stepping in to help.
Cassie Marshall, a longtime friend of the family, created a GoFundMe to support them as they begin the long road to recovery.
“I didn’t really know where to set a goal at… and I know no amount of money can replace a home and every item in this home,” Marshall said. “They lost everything. So I set the goal for about $20,000, and I’m hoping that it can just keep growing and get to where we need it to get.”
Marshall says the outpouring of support has already been overwhelming, especially from people who don’t even know the family personally.
“I’m just in awe. It’s incredible to see the community come together like this,” she said.
