Man attempts to flee and strike deputies, had drugs inside vehicle

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — A Chattanooga man was arrested after leading authorities on a high speed chase Wednesday evening.

The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office says that they received a call about a red Nissan Frontier weaving in and out of traffic around Hixson Pike and Ashland Terrace around 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Deputies located that vehicle on the five hundred block of Spears Avenue and initiated a traffic stop.

They say the suspect, Marlon Crawl Jr., immediately exited his vehicle and began to flee.

He was then tased and placed into custody.

However, while being escorted to a patrol vehicle, he attempted to pull away and assault a deputy.

He was ultimately taken to the ground.

While searching his vehicle, deputies found a loaded handgun along with drug paraphernalia including fentanyl and meth.

He is facing a slew of charges.

He is in custody at the Hamilton County Jail.
