CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — News 12 spoke Friday to one Tennessee gubernatorial candidate.
Congressman John Rose is running for the Republican nomination.
He is from Cookeville and has represented the sixth Congressional district since 20-19 and owns an I-T training business.
He says that he is focused on five key policy areas including education, healthcare, and infrastructure.
We asked him about the entry of Senator Marsha Blackburn into the race.
He says while he has a lot of respect for her, he believes there is one key difference between the candidates.
Rep. Rose said, “My father used to tell me, “Finish the work you start.” So I’m going to finish my term in Congress, and I hope that Senator Blackburn would finish the term she just took representing Tennessee in Washington. The important thing is to compare and contrast for Tennesseeans and help them understand the skills I would bring to the job, the experiences I have that I think would better suited for being the CEO of Tennessee.”
The primaries for the gubernatorial race will be held next August.
