Howard student arrested after assaulting school resource deputy

New Indoor Facility Proposed At Howard Amid Hvac Concerns

HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) —  A Howard High School student was arrested after allegedly assaulting a school resource deputy (SRD).

On September 11, 2025, at 10:30 a.m., the SRD at The Howard School was made aware of an 18-year-old student trying to get back into the school through a side door.

The student, Quanderius Dillard, had experienced behavioral issues earlier in the day and left school property voluntarily.

When the SRD approached the side door, it was discovered that Dillard ran to another entrance.

According to the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO), the SRD ordered Dillard to stop, but instead, he assaulted the SRD.

Dillard was taken into custody shortly after.

While escorting him, Dillard shouted multiple threats to “shoot up the school”.

He is being charged with Threat of Mass Violence and Assault on a First Responder.
