Chattanooga City Council withdraws UAW resolution

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF)- The Chattanooga City Council has pulled a resolution that would’ve supported the UAW.
This comes days after Volkswagen sent the union its final benefits package offer.

The resolution would have been an endorsement by the Council of the union in that battle with Volkswagen.

However, local labor leaders decided to ask the council to pull that resolution.

Councilman Dennis Clark said, “Our desire to withdraw this resolution is also our desire to stand in solidarity with the United Auto Workers, but we believe to for the Council to let private business matters be private business matters.”

The UAW still has not publicly commented on last week’s offer by Volkswagen.
