Hamilton County Coalition Hosts ‘Recover Together’ Event
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — The Opioid addiction crisis slammed the southeast over the last few decades, with many communities ravaged by overdoses and deaths.
Here in Hamilton County, multiple groups have been working to make sure people suffering from addiction, and their families, get the help that they deserve.
The Hamilton County Coalition hosted a Recovery Happens Together event at Miller Park on Wednesday.
Hannah Dalton, Communications Coordinator with the Hamilton County Coalition told us, “They provide resources and get people into treatment and recovery within 24 to 48 hours. But we also support the family members. So, whenever they enter into recovery, we support them for a year, providing them life building skills, just how to support that individual in recovery, and help better understand the process.”
Vendors, non-profits, and government agencies all gathered to provide resources and a stepping stone for people seeking help.
The Hamilton County government says that opioid overdose related deaths have been trending down. These non-profits want to keep it that way.
Hannah Dalton told us, “We see things that are getting better, but you never know what people are going through. So we just try to continue to do our work because we want to see the number decrease.”
