Fresh Smell Doesn’t Mean Clean
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – As cold and flu season returns, air quality in the workplace is becoming a major concern for employees.
A new survey shows 71% of workers avoid shared spaces when the air smells bad or feels stuffy.
Many also believe that if a space smells fresh, it must be germ-free, but that’s not always true.
Experts like Brian Leafblad, a chemist and researcher with Reckitt’s Lysol Pro Solutions, say scent doesn’t equal sanitation.
“Odor control can make a space feel clean, but to truly support wellness, you need active air sanitization,” he explains.
The survey also found that 80% of employees would feel more comfortable at work if they knew the air was actively sanitized.
With viruses spreading more easily during cold and flu season, experts say maintaining clean air can be just as important as surface disinfection in keeping workers healthy and confident.
