White Oak’s 1,000-Bike Goal

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – The White Oak Bicycle Co-op is marking a record-breaking year in 2025 as it continues working toward its goal of giving away 1,000 bicycles by the end of the year.

The Chattanooga-based nonprofit recently reached a milestone of more than 800 bikes distributed.

That’s the most in its history.

The Co-op collects donated bicycles and parts, refurbishes them, and provides free bikes to children and adults across the Chattanooga area.

Each donation helps expand access to safe, reliable transportation while reducing waste through bicycle reuse.

Local businesses throughout Chattanooga are also helping promote the effort by serving as drop-off points for bicycles and parts.

Donors are encouraged to call ahead before dropping off items during normal business hours.

In addition to donation drives, the White Oak Bicycle Co-op hosts bike safety classes, repair workshops, and community events throughout the year to promote safe and sustainable cycling.

More information, including donation locations and volunteer opportunities, is available at whiteoakbicycle.org.
