Alabama manhunt ends in Floyd County Georgia
DEKALB COUNTY, Alabama. (WDEF) – The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that after a long, intensive investigation Gary Jody Childers was taken into custody in Floyd County Georgia around 9:15pm central.
According to the Sheriff’s office, it started in DeKalb County, where a law enforcement officer attempted a traffic stop on Gary Childers due to an active warrant.
They say Childers fired shots out of the window of his vehicle, shooting at one of their deputies, and sped away in his Volvo C70 Convertible.
Other agencies joined in the search, including US Marshals and the ATF.
Childers was eventually arrested in Floyd County, Georgia after multiple days of searching.
He faces charges including attempted murder, certain persons forbidden to possess a firearm, and federal charges.
He was booked into the Floyd county, Georgia jail while he awaits extradition to DeKalb County, Alabama.
