“Championship or Bust” as Mocs Open Fall Football Practice

Chattanooga-(WDEF) The Mocs football team got a taste of success last season posting ten victories and the out-right SoCon Championship.

But now UTC wants more, as they kicked off fall practice on Monday afternoon.

Said offensive lineman Corey Levin,"Championship or bust I’d say."
After winning their first ever playoff game last season, Chattanooga wants to go all the way this season.
Said quarterback Jacob Huesman,"That kind of has to be the mind set. You can’t except anything less than that national championship. If we don’t win it this year, then it’s kind of a failed season."
Said head coach Russ Huesman,"We talked about national championships. I’m not afraid to talk about it. You hope they have the highest expectations for themselves and this team."
Said defensive end Keionta Davis,"We did great last year. Great wasn’t enough. I guess we have to go higher than that. Whatever that word is, that’s what it is."
Jacob Huesman wants his teammates to embrace the expectations, but still maintain an edge.
"I think our key is going to be not listening to all the hype. Said this before, let’s pretend like we’re in last place and try to beat some people."
Having a two-time SoCon offensive player of the year returning at quarterback certainly gives Coach Huesman confidence.
"I’m not sure if we didn’t have our quarterback coming back if people would be picking us as high as they are picking us. That’s everywhere. If you’ve got a good quarterback coming back, then you’ve got a chance."
Given all the expectations and experience at quarterback, the Mocs are excited to step on the practice field.
Said Levin,"I think we’ve got new gear, new recruits, great coaches. Everything is going in the right direction for that."
