Holiday Shopping Kicks Off Early in Downtown Ringgold with Pink Friday

Holiday shopping is starting early in Downtown Ringgold, where local businesses are gearing up for this year’s Pink Friday event.
Instead of waiting for the Black Friday rush, the city is turning the spotlight on small businesses—giving shoppers a chance to support local while getting a head start on their holiday lists.
One of the shops preparing for the big day is Southern Charm Clothing, owned by Courtney Cross, who says many people don’t realize just how much Downtown Ringgold has to offer.
“I think a lot of people don’t realize you can get a lot of your Christmas shopping done in downtown Ringgold,” Cross said. “We have so many different shops—from antique stores to general stores to boutiques. We sell men’s and women’s clothing, and I have a children’s store, so you’d be surprised. If you really want to avoid the mall area, you can come downtown and find a store with a gift for anyone.”
Cross, who also serves as president of the Downtown Partners, says local business owners work together to keep shoppers in the area.
“If I can’t find something in my store, I’m going to point you in the right direction and try to keep you in downtown Ringgold so that you can support other businesses as well,” she added.
Pink Friday focuses on encouraging people to shop local first, keeping holiday dollars in the community and helping small shops thrive during their busiest season.
And according to Cross, personalized service is one of the biggest things local stores can offer.
“We have customers—moms, dads, grandmas, grandpas—come in and describe the person they’re shopping for. They can tell us the age, what they like, what they do for a living, and my staff and I know how to help,” she said.
“That’s something you don’t get online. We even still offer wrapping, which a lot of stores don’t do anymore. You can bring your full Christmas list, and we’ll help you pick out gifts for multiple people.”
Pink Friday takes place across Downtown Ringgold and aims to kick off the holiday season while supporting the small businesses that keep the community thriving.
