CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – On Saturday, around midnight, two sheriff’s deputies were involved in a deputy-involved shooting at a gas station.

According to the Hamilton County Sheriff’s office, two of their deputies were involved in a shooting that occurred at a gas station on the corner of Highway 58 and Murray Hills Drive.

The TBI, which is handling the investigation, states that the deputies responded to a report of a vehicle stolen at that location.

The two deputies reportedly attempted to make contact with the driver of a vehicle.

The situation escalated, and the two deputies fired upon the vehicle, hitting the driver.

That driver was hospitalized.

They say, as is Sheriff’s Office policy, the two deputies were placed on administrative leave.

The TBI will forward its investigative findings to Attorney General Coty Wamp, who will decide what measures, if any, need to be taken.
