TBI investigates after officer strikes man threatening self harm

HARDIN COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) – TBI agents are investigating the circumstances leading to an officer-involved shooting that happened on Sunday morning in Hardin County.
According to the TBI, the Savannah Police Department responded to a report of a break-in at a home on the 100 block of Malcomb Street in Savannah.
When officers arrived around 10:15 a.m., they found a man threatening to harm himself.
For reasons still under investigation, the situation escalated and an officer shot at the man, striking him.
He was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
No law enforcement officers were hurt in the incident.
Throughout the process, investigative findings will be shared with the District Attorney General for his review and consideration.
