Former Deputy charged with assault and official oppression
UNION COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) – The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) conducted an investigation that has resulted in the indictment of a former Union County Deputy.
According to the TBI, they began investigating the circumstances leading to a use-of-force incident involving now-former Union County Deputy Ashton Cole Lambert.
Based on the investigation, Lambert used excessive force during the arrest of a woman in Maynardville on April 10, 2025.
The Union County Sheriff’s Office terminated Lambert when the allegations came to light.
The TBI says that on December 2nd, the Union County Grand Jury charged Ashton Lambert (DOB: 02/09/93) with one count of Assault and one count of Official Oppression.
Lambert turned himself in on December 11th and was booked into the Union County Jail on a $2,500 bond.
