After months of delaying, Fani Willis should finally testify today on Trump prosecution

ATLANTA (WDEF) – It could be the final act in a months long drama involving Georgia Republicans, President Trump and D-A Fani Willis.

She is scheduled to testify today before a Georgia state Senate committee.

Willis brought indictments against the President and dozens of others on charges of colluding to change the outcome of the 2020 Presidential election.

But before that case could be tried, Willis was accused of having a romantic relationship with the special prosecutor she hired to go after President Trump.

A judge removed her from the case.

And then a state official dropped all the charges saying he couldn’t find another prosecutor to replace Willis.

The Senate committee has been after the District Attorney to answer questions about the case.

She has fought appearing, but the Senate approved new rules allowing them to compel her to appear.

They cannot actually charge her with anything.

State Senator Bill Cowsert who runs the committee is also running for Georgia Attorney General next fall.

And four other Republicans on the committee are also running for lieutenant governor next year.
