Resolution to establish unincorporated planning commission withdrawn

HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF)- A proposal to create a brand new planning commission for unincorporated Hamilton County has been withdrawn.

Commissioner Jeff Eversole proposed this last week.

He said that the purpose of such a commission would be to remove city influence from zoning decisions in rural Hamilton County.

This is the wake of the Plan Hamilton resolution that left many residents in rural areas displeased.

Eversole said, “There’s some things in it. We need to button down a little bit more… State of Tennessee has laws regarding how planning commissions operate. So we wanna make sure that we dot our I’s and cross our T’s cause we wanna make sure that we get this right but I do want this to come back in front of this body.”

Several residents spoke out in favor of the proposal, criticizing the Regional Planning Agency’s decisions

This resolution is due to reappear in March.
