Water Leak Prompts Soddy Daisy School Closures for Second Day
UPDATE: The water main break has been fixed.
Customers should gain back water and water pressure, according to the North West Utility District.
They ask people to contact them if issues persist.
SODDY DAISY — A water leak in Soddy-Daisy continues into its second day prompting school closures for nearby areas.
The leak is located at Dayton Pike and McAfee Road.
The leak has caused four schools to shut down for the second straight day, including:
- Soddy-Daisy High
- Soddy-Daisy Middle
- Soddy Daisy Elementary
- Sequoyah Technical Schools
The issue was caused by poor installation of the water line back in the 1970s/80s, a manager for North West Utility District told News 12.
They have brought in an outside contractor to help them resolve the issue.
There is not an estimated time that service will be reestablished in the area.
