Qualifying Opens for Next Spring’s Local Elections

It may be the last weeks of 2025, but next year’s political season begins today.

Qualifying begins for local elections to be held next spring.

Candidates have two months to file the paperwork to actually enter a race.

The primary election is in May.

There will be 12 races on the ballot in Hamilton County, including Mayor and Sheriff.

The local election day will be on August 6 in Tennessee.

That is also the primary election for state and federal offices.

The general election for state and federal will be in November.
