DEKALB COUNTY — An Ider High School student has passed away following flu complications.

“It is with deepest regrets that we share about the passing of one of our beloved students. Noah “Smo” Smothers was an Ider Hornet through and through, exemplifying strength of character and a bright young mind. He was a friend to many and will be missed dearly by all who knew him at our little school. Please keep his family and friends in your prayers as they endure this difficult time…”

– Ider High School said.

The 14-year-old passed away at “TC Thompson Children’s Hospital from complications related to influenza,” New Home Baptist Church- Pisgah said.

He was on the Ider High School’s basketball team, and the school says he exemplified strength of character and was a bright young mind.

Henagar Junior High says Noah had just graduated from there in May and leaves behind a legacy of laughter, kindness, and fun.
