Rhea County Sheriff’s Office Warns of Scammer

RHEA COUNTY — The Rhea County Sheriff’s Office is warning locals about a local scam that could impact individuals in the community.

They say a man is calling from a local area code with the last four digits of 8961 and is identifying himself as Lieutenant Keith Myers from the Rhea County Sheriff’s Department.

The scammer claims to be collecting a fine on behalf of the Chief Deputy and is threatening jail time if you do not comply.

The RCSO is reminding locals they do not have a Lieutenant Keith Myers at their department and they would never contact you about unpaid fines in this manner.

They ask you do not give him any personal information.
