One Dead and Child Injured Following Wreck in Rhea County

RHEA COUNTY — One person has died and a 5-year-old was injured following a crash at Watts Bar Highway and Rhea County Highway on January 8.

A THP Preliminary Report says that around 7 a.m. a Ford THL was travelling north on on Watts Bar Highway and was approaching the intersection at Rhea County Highway.

A Dodge Ram 1500 was travelling North on Rhea County Highway when the Ford THL failed to yield to the right of way at the intersection, causing a crash.

A 5-year-old that was inside the Dodge Ram 1500 was injured and the driver of the Ford THL died as a result of the crash.

All parties involved were wearing seatbelts, according to THP.
