Chattanooga non-profit hindered from rescuing dog
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — TiggerTown is a non-profit that works to rescue stray dogs and find them a forever home.
One dog has been giving them some trouble.
Candice McCoy is apart of TiggerTown, she says the dog has been in the neighborhood for a while.
“This dog is a brown dog that has been living in the area from anywhere between one and three years. He has migrated. He used to be down near the food city on lee highway and Shallowford road. Now he is down at Chapman Road.”
Because of the high volume of cars in the area, McCoy believes a car hit the dog.
She says, “When I first started seeing him, you can see that he’s got something neurological going on with his back legs. He’s got real bad tremors in his back legs and so he’s probably been hit by a car. We got eye witness accounts that put him running up and down 153. They’ve seen him running up and down Shallowford Road. He’s not just hanging out on Chapman Road, which is already a very busy road, but he’s hitting the interstate. He’s in danger.”
The non profit wants to capture the dog to be able to take it to a vet and then find it a nice home.
However, that is not as easy as it looks.
McCoy explained the scene on Wednesday morning.
“Everything, they took everything, even his toys. The camera went off-line at 9:23 Wednesday morning so we knew something was wrong. You could tell in the video that the camera moved a little and then it went off-line so somebody moved it and turned it off.”
McCoy hopes they can restore their equipment so they can provide better care for the animal.
She says, “They don’t go in kennels, they live in our homes on our couches. Their life is worth fighting for and they deserve better than living on a street like today where he’s hunkered down somewhere cause he’s got to find somewhere to get out of the rain.”
