Hixson deacon charged with sexual exploitation of a minor over hidden cameras in his home
CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – A Hixson church deacon faces nine charges of sexual exploitation of a minor after investigators say he set up two hidden cameras at his home.
Christopher Thomas Collins was turned in by his wife.
She told police that he handed her his phone while he was at the dentist office.
She suspected that he had been cheating so she went through the phone.
She says she found hidden files of the underage girl.
Police say they discovered nine videos in all, showing the minor using the shower, the bathroom and changing.
The wife also gave police S-D cards from the cameras.
They were set up in a guest bathroom in the home.
Abbas House confirms that Collins was a church deacon but has been removed from the position.
Here is their statement on the incident.
“Through the course of a marriage counseling session, Chris Collins’ wife revealed that she had found videos on her husband’s phone of a minor. We immediately reported it to the police and they are handling the situation. We are caring for his wife and kids during this tragic time. Chris Collins had been a member of the church for four years and served as a deacon. He has been removed from that role.”
