Dunlap Fire Department responds to structure fire on Rankin Avenue
DUNLAP, Tenn. (WDEF) – Late this afternoon at 4:09p.m., the Dunlap Fire Department responded to a possible residential structure fire on Rankin Avenue across the street from Wendy’s.
According to the Dunlap Police, they were first to arrive and confirmed a working structure fire.
It was reported that the volunteer firefighters were on scene for about 4 hours.
The fire department say the home was originally built in 1941.
First responders have confirmed that the current owner was sitting with a relative when the fire began and wasn’t home.
The weather conditions were cold with sometimes raining or sleeting and freezing rain during the fire.
They say the residence sustained substantial damage, however there were no injuries.
The investigation shows the cause was due to an older heater being used in a rear bedroom.
