Monteagle ranked as road to avoid in winter weather
Survey finds it is the 2nd most avoided highway by Tennesseans
MONTEAGLE, Tennessee (WDEF) – Monteagle Mountain makes a list of the winter routes Tennesseans try to avoid.

It’s the steep grades, sharp curves, fog and ice that scare us off.
The survey found that a lot of locals will just delay their trips instead of descending the mountain in icy weather.
The top rated road scare in Tennessee is U-S 441 in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
It is the road that connects Gatlinburg to Cherokee, NC over Newfound Gap.
The highway is often closed by heavy snowfall.
