Investigation into combative inmate and altercation with deputy

Hamilton County, TN (WDEF) – The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office is doing a full investigation into an incident at Silverdale-CCA on Saturday night.

Officials say Leslie Hayes was being transported to Silverdale from the jail by Deputy Daniel Hendrix.

Officials say she was combative during transport, and there was an altercation with Deputy Hendrix in the booking/intake area of Silverdale.

Inmate Hayes was being transported on an outstanding fugitive warrant out of Sessions Court.

She also faces charges of aggravated assault, aggravated burglary, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, and violation of probation (driving on a suspended license) in Chattanooga.

Officials say Hayes has been in jail at least 28 times.

Deputy Hendrix has been suspended; pending the outcome of the investigation.
