Rock City kicks off Summer with Dog Days of Summer event

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – Rock City kicked off the start of summer with its annual Dog Days of Summer event, giving visitors the opportunity to enjoy the gardens while meeting adoptable pets.

The attraction partnered with several local rescue organizations, including the Humane Educational Society, to help connect animals in need with potential adopters.

Throughout the event, guests explored the gardens alongside adoptable dogs while learning more about pet adoption and local rescue efforts.

Volunteer Lee Parris explained that events like Dog Days of Summer help shelters introduce animals to the community in a fun and welcoming environment.

“We have wonderful pets available for adoption. We don’t want people to stereotype the kinds of animals that are in shelters because, as you can see, they’re really great family pets. There are all types of sizes and temperaments. There’s something for everyone, and we hope people will come adopt from us.”

Organizers said community events like this not only provide a memorable experience for visitors but also increase the chances of finding loving homes for animals in need.
