Research Shows Ways to Protect Pets
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – A recent survey from the North American Veterinary Community (NAVC) shows that many pet owners delay professional care, highlighting ways families can help their pets live longer, healthier lives.
The research found that 55% of pet owners wait until their pets are sick or in pain before visiting a veterinarian.
In addition, 61% rely on social media or artificial intelligence for advice instead of consulting a trained professional.
These findings underscore the importance of building a trusted veterinary care team early in a pet’s life.
The study also points to advances in preventative care, integrative treatments like acupuncture, and emerging toxicology research.
These approaches are designed to extend pets’ healthspan, helping animals stay active, recover faster, and maintain a better quality of life.
Gene O’Neill, CEO of NAVC, and Dr. Dana Varble, Chief Veterinary Officer, say these findings emphasize the need for informed decision-making to support long-term pet health.
