Miss G’s Owner Detained by ICE
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – The owner of popular Chattanooga restaurant Miss G’s has been detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, prompting concern from longtime customers.
Guillermina Solano-Chala, owner of Miss G’s Tortas and Tamales, was pulled over during a traffic stop in Walker County on January 23.
Public records indicate her charges included no insurance, driving without a valid license and having no headlight requirements.
According to the Walker County Sheriff’s Office, Solano-Chala was booked the same day and later released into the custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
Customers who spoke with News 12 described Solano-Chala as a familiar and respected presence at the restaurant, saying she was known for her kindness and generosity toward customers and others in the community.
Miss G’s Tortas and Tamales is located on English Avenue off Rossville Boulevard and has served the Chattanooga area for years.
Employees told News 12 the restaurant will remain open, though it will change its name in the coming weeks.
