SALE CREEK — Around 10:50 a.m., firefighters responded to the 1000 block of Loyd Trail after a homeowner called 911 regarding fire in the basement.

The first unit arrived on the scene and reported a 2-story residence with heavy smoke and fire showing on the porch as well as the basement, according to the Hamilton Co. Office of Emergency Management & Homeland Security.

Firefighters also confirmed everyone was out of the house.

They say HCEMS was on the scene and transported a 34-year-old to the hospital for smoke inhalation.

Sale Creek fire officials reported to dispatch that firefighters were faced with challenging interior conditions which made their fire attacks difficult to extinguish quickly.

The cause of the fire is under investigation and damages are unknown.
