Walnut Street Bridge still on track to open in fall of 2026

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — The Walnut Street Bridge is still on track to open in September of 2026, according to the City of Chattanooga.
They say the heavy containment tarps near the South Shore towards downtown (Span 1) have been removed, which means all 6 spans have been sandblasted, primed and painted.
They say over half the bridge has new decking, and just over 1,100 feet remain.
Structural repairs are ongoing.
