Box truck carrying lithium batteries catches fire on I-75
A battery fire was extinguished following a truck fire that was hauling lithium batteries on March 24, 2026.
According to Catoosa County Government, about 4:30 p.m. Catoosa County E-911 received calls about smoke coming from a truck at the weight station on Interstate 75.
Firefighters arrived and called for assistance for additional water tankers from several stations.
They say the incident commander also requested mutual aid assistance from the Whitfield County Fire Department.
No injuries were reported, and the battery fire was extinguished.
