Tennessee applies for Nuclear Lifecycle innovation Campus in Oak Ridge
Tennessee is applying to land a Nuclear Lifecycle innovation Campus in Oak Ridge.
The campuses are a proposal from the department of Energy to upgrade the nuclear fuel cycle in the US.
Specifically, the goal is to move past storing nuclear waste in remote locations in favor of recycling the waste.
The campuses will also support advancing nuclear reactors.
The idea is to unite the entire process of creating nuclear fuel to the end of disposing of it.
Governor Lee says Tennessee has long lead the nation in nuclear technology and he supports the President’s nuclear plans.
