One dead after alleged argument over a bright work light witnesses claim
ROSSVILLE, Ga. (WDEF) – On Friday at 9:05 p.m., Walker County deputies responded to a shooting incident at 1108 Ridgewood St., Rossville, GA.
According to the Walker County Sheriff’s Office, when deputies arrived on scene, they found the victim, 59-year-old Jerry Hightower, deceased in the front yard.
They say witnesses pointed the deputies to the suspect, 49 year old James Richard Nowlin, who was sitting on his front porch across the street at 1107 Ridgewood St., Rossville GA.
Deputies approached Nowlin and arrested him, taking him into custody without incident.
The Sheriff’s Office says that witnesses claim Nowlin and Hightower had engaged in an argument over a bright work light shining on Nowlin’s residence.
The victim Hightower did not live at the incident location but was there to perform some maintenance work.
Nowlin was charged and booked on one count of murder at the Walker County Jail. No bond has been set.
