This is special election day in north Georgia, runoff edition

Polls are open from 7-7

RINGGOLD, Georgia (WDEF) –  Tuesday is the runoff for the special elections in north Georgia.

One race will pick the candidate who will replace Marjorie Taylor Greene in Congress for the rest of the year.

The candidates are Democrat Shawn Harris and Republican Clay Hunter.

There will be another election this summer and fall for the same seat covering the next two years.

Also, in Dade and Walker Counties, voters will pick a replacement for Colton Moore in the Georgia Senate.

He lost his bid for the Congressional seat.

That race pits Republican Lanny Thomas against Democrat Jack Zibluk.

The polls will be open from seven until seven and we’ll have full results tomorrow night on WDEF News 12.

The Georgia Senate race has an added piece of drama to it.

Immediately after the special election last month, Lanny Thomas suffered a severe heart ailment that required surgery.

But he still in the runoff Tuesday.

On Friday, he posted an update on his condition.

Thomas says he just got out of rehab and was able to return home after two weeks.

He says he is making campaign calls and talking to voters from home.
