Bend Project Update Pushed Back
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – A scheduled update on The Bend, the major riverfront redevelopment project led by Urban Story Ventures, was postponed Tuesday after the development team did not appear before city council members.
The council had expected a presentation during the Economic Development Committee, a subcommittee of city council, to review progress on the mixed-use project near South Broad along the riverfront.
Urban Story Ventures President Jimmy White released a statement Wednesday and said the team was “…not informed. They weren’t added to the agenda until Good Friday and therefore could not adequately prepare.” He added that the team reached out to council representatives and “do not understand why the council was taken by surprise.”
White emphasized that the project “remains on schedule and in compliance with the TIF agreement,” and noted that the team looks forward to updating the council once a new presentation date is confirmed.
Regarding the project’s timeline, White said, “I’m telling you we are weeks out from transformational announcements about the project and development that’s gonna happen there and this hurts those announcements.”
