Lee Students help with storm recovery
COLLEGEDALE, Tennessee (WDEF) – Lee University is proud of their students who have helped out with natural disaster recovery this spring.
Students from their Disaster and Healthcare Mission Management (DHMM) program partnered with Samaritan’s Purse over spring break.
Six students headed to New Albany, Mississippi to help with cleanup from Winter Storm Fern.
They cleared tree limbs and debris.
The second group went to Yancey County, North Carolina in March.
They repaired homes and built decks for residents in storm damaged communities.]
“I had the opportunity to go to North Carolina to rebuild homes with Samaritan’s Purse,” said Isabella Hammonds, a sophomore nursing major from Cleveland. “It was an incredible experience; I got to meet so many people, learn new skills and grow in my faith.”
“We are always honored to be part of the meaningful work of Samaritan’s Purse.” said Jacob Fast, director of DHMM. “I am incredibly proud of our students, who worked tirelessly to serve as the hands and feet of Jesus to those affected by these disasters.”
