21-year-old arrested following fraud investigation
SCOTTSBORO — A 21-year-old Decatur woman has been arrested following a fraud investigation, according to the Scottsboro Police Department.
They say on April 2, 2026, officers were dispatched to the 500 Block of W. Willow Street in reference to a report of a fraudulent check.
Upon arrival, officers made contact with a representative of the business, who advised that a check in the amount of $95,289.00 had been submitted to a subsidiary of the business.
They say the subsidiary reached out to the business and advised that the payment that was sent via check had been deposited into another financial institution fraudulently in Florence, AL on February 13, 2026.
As a result of the investigation, a warrant was obtained for Serinity Cherish Jones, 21, in connection with this incident.
On April 4, 2026, the Decatur Police Department located and detained Jones on the Scottsboro Police Department warrant.
Officers subsequently traveled to the Morgan County Jail, where Jones was formally placed under arrest, according to the Scottsboro Police Department.
Jones was then transported to the Scottsboro City Jail for processing and later transferred to the Jackson County Jail, where she was booked without incident.
