Figures show Chattanooga job market decrease
The Business Research Center at UTC reports that Chattanooga’s job market wasn’t quite as rosy last year as we thought.
They note that the federal Bureau of Labor Statistics has revised their job figures for last year.
And that means Chattanooga lost 3300 jobs from the initial reports.
The loss was enough to push our city from slightly growing to slighting decreasing.
The new numbers say employment peaked in June of 2024 and has been dropping ever since.
The report says the loss of auto manufacturing jobs sparked the downturn.
The hardest hit industries for job losses have been Manufacturing and Professional and Business Services.
Health and retail jobs have performed much better.
