Building being demolished catches fire

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — A building that was in the process of being demolished caught fire on April 22, 2026.

The Chattanooga Fire Department says Green Shift companies were dispatched to 1400 E 37th Street at 2:17 p.m.

They say a demolition company was doing some cutting with a torch and a spark set the roof on fire.

Firefighters extinguished the fire using an aerial master stream.

There were no injuries.
