Zebra and Giraffe Friendship Turns Heads

VALDOSTA, GA. (WDEF) – An unusual animal pairing is being highlighted at Wild Adventures Theme Park in Valdosta, Georgia. 

Inside the park’s Giraffe Overlook habitat, which allows multiple species to share space, a zebra named Kurtsie and a giraffe named Bakari have formed a close bond.

According to the park’s animal care team, the two began spending time together after the habitat opened and have continued to stay in close proximity during daily routines. 

Staff say the pair are frequently seen side by side throughout the day, including during feeding and rest periods.

Animal care staff also report observing changes in both animals’ behavior since they began interacting more regularly, including more relaxed and social behavior. 

The park says the interaction is part of the natural dynamics encouraged within the shared habitat and continues to be monitored by the care team.
