Trion High School Senior in ICE Custody

TRION, GA (WDEF) — A High School Student from Trion, Georgia was arrested after a traffic stop, and reports say he’s now in ICE custody.

An arrest report from Walker County says Elder Yuvini Aguilar-Macario was charged by the Georgia State Patrol with failure to maintain lane and driving without a license, which is a misdemeanor.

A gofundme established by Aguilar-Macario’s family says that he was transferred to ICE custody.

He was just two weeks away from graduation at the time of his arrest, and he was accepted into a welding program at a nearby technical college.

Over four-thousand dollars have been raised so far. The gofundme says this is to cover legal expenses.

Locals we spoke with, who declined to be on camera, tell me that Aguilar-Macario is well regarded by his classmates and teachers.  He plays for the Trion High School Bulldogs soccer team.

Mr. Aguilar-Macario came to the United States with his family at a young age.

We are working to uncover more details in this story.
