State Route 322 bridge over I-75 to be demolished

MONROE COUNTY — Motorists traveling on I-75 and State Route 322 in Monroe County should be aware of upcoming road construction activities that will have a temporary impact on traffic.

According to TDOT Region 2, beginning at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 15, the old State Route 322 bridge over I-75 will be demolished.

Traffic on I-75 will be directed to use the ramps at Exit 62 (Sweetwater) to exit and re-enter the interstate. During this time, I-75 traffic will be prioritized at those ramps, while flaggers will direct State Route 322 traffic through the work zone.

This closure will be completed by 6 a.m. on Monday, May 18. They say single weekend closure will prevent months of rolling roadblocks throughout the summer.

They say motorists on I-75 who want to bypass the work zone can use State Route 322, State Route 2, or State Route 68 as alternate routes. I-75 North traffic will take Exit 60 (Sweetwater) while I-75 South traffic will take Exit 68 (Philadelphia).

This schedule is contingent on favorable weather conditions.

Motorists are advised to expect delays and use extreme caution in this area as workers will be present.
