Reaction to Tennessee redistricting, explusions
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF)- We are hearing reaction to the recent expulsion of some Tennessee House Democrats from committees.
That decision was made by Republican Speaker of the House Cameron Sexton in response to various disruptions during last week’s special session in Nashville regarding redistricting.
We caught up with Representative Greg Martin at Thursday’s Chattanooga Republican Women’s meeting, who said that what he saw last week was in his view was a lack of decorum.
Rep. Martin said, “I came back from Nashville. It was almost like I was coming back from Minneapolis or Los Angeles or some of these places where you have all kinds of chaos all the time we don’t normally have that in Nashville and we certainly don’t have that on the Republican side of the aisle, I get that the super minority of the Democrats are mad and angry about all kinds of things, but that’s not a way to convince people.”
Representative Martin says that he wants Republicans to primarily focus on education and the economy moving forward to maintain their supermajority.
