Pet poisonings are up in the 2020s and here’s what’s doing it

NASHVILLE (WDEF) – The number of cases of pet poisoning has jumped over the last five years according to a new report.

The pet insurance provider Trupanion has crunched the numbers on what is poisoning our family pets.

And the number one danger may surprise you.

Grapes and raisins are the most common poisons for dogs and cats.

Number two on the list is chocolate followed by medications.

Other dangers on the list include plants, onions, gum, rat poison, insecticides, alcohol, caffeine and cannabis.

The report found that dog poisonings are up 30% since 2000 and cat poisonings up 50%
