Detective gets officer of the year award for work on child sex abuse cases
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF)- A Hamilton County Sheriff’s detective received an honor Thursday for her work on some of the most sensitive cases we see.
Detective Karigan Scoggins of the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office received the Respect for Law Officer of the Year Award from the Scenic City Optimist Club.
Detective Scoggins works on child sex abuse cases in the Sheriff’s Office in the Criminal Investigations Unit.
Chief Spencer Daniels says that she has to see some of the worst cases to come through the department, all in the name of protecting children.
Chief Daniels said, “Her work ethic, her attention to detail, and her commitment to the safety and protection of children go far beyond many others that we’ve seen in a long time. She’s steadfast, and she just has a huge passion for this line of work.”
Detective Scoggins has been a part of the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office since 2019, and has worked in law enforcement since 2013.
