East Brainerd Road Walmart Neighborhood Market celebrates grand opening Wednesday
Chattanooga, TN (WDEF) – The city of Chattanooga’s first Walmart Neighborhood Market celebrated its grand opening Wednesday.
The store on East Brainerd Road opened its doors to the public Wednesday morning.
Walmart Neighborhood Markets focus on fresh groceries and on-site pharmacies.
But today the store proved its commitment to the Chattanooga area by presenting checks to several local organizations including Goodwill, Chattanooga Police and Fire Departments, and Make-a-Wish, just to name a few.
Steven Hamlet works as a Walmart Store Manager. He said, "That’s my number one priority is to give back to my community and to help our community out. Not only through grants, but through community service as well, and that was the very first thing that I tackled and tried to establish into my managers here in the store."
The very first person in line Wednesday was Chattanooga Police Sergeant Dennis Pedigo.
He was injured in the July 16th terror attack.
Sergeant Pedigo said he’s been touched by the outpouring of support expressed to him and his fellow officers since that fateful day.
