Resolution to create rural tourism zone pulled

HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF)- A resolution that could have changed zoning regulations around Hamilton County Parks has been pulled.

That resolution would have created rural tourism zones that could have allowed lodging to be developed near county parks.

Several advocacy groups were concerned that the resolution would open up some of the parks to development.

Mayor Wamp’s office has decided to pull that resolution.

Park advocates like Melissa Ray of Save Enterprise South Nature say that decision is encouraging.

Ray said, “We have no idea if this resolution is just on a temporary hold or if it’s gone for good, but we will continue to work on it. We have this coalition of other groups who we’re going to get input from and we are invested in making sure this resolution works for our rural and public green spaces around Hamilton County.”

The Hamilton County Commission will still meet on a number of other issues Wednesday including this year’s budget.
